The Participation Puzzle #1 - Skills

Introduction

It goes without saying that there are certain skills any participant to an online community will need. These mostly involve the basics of using Email, some specifics about tapping into Discussion Lists, and maybe details about how to work with the community's Web site (if it has one).

Don't feel intimidated by the list below, just take a look around and use what you need. One suggestion is to do the activity on Accessing List Archives as this knowledge is somewhat specialised. After that, do some self-assessments using the three Checklists. If you feel you have a lot to learn in a particular area, use the overview page related to it to find online help.

Accessing List Archives

This series of three activities will introduce you to the idea of looking into databases that archive past messages posted to Email lists. See what you can find out from these list histories.
