Using the Web for Resources

This workshop looked at different ways to find resources on the Internet and World Wide Web and then explored issues involved in using the web to share resources.

Finding your place in Cyberspace - this is a collection of
activities in the VECO "Making the Most of Online Communities" workshop to guide you through different ways of finding information on the Internet.
- Activity 2: VET in Schools launch points
Getting familiar with some good VET launch points is one strategy for locating resources on the Internet. Some starters for you:

The ECEF site has a lot of excellent information to support quality and sustainability of structured workplace learning programs.

- VECO Resources Database
A collection of resources specifically supporting VET in schools programs including careers.
- ANTA homepage
The ANTA site includes many good references eg the NTIS (National Training Information Service) and the Take Off! website for students.
- DETYA homepage
The DETYA site is a "must check regularly site" for funding and tender opportunities.
- Activity 3: Finding Information from Online Communities
Online communities value add to information by applying their own filters and lenses.
- voced-coord archive
The voced-coord mailing list is the main communications tool of the VECO community and the archives contain a wealth of information. This archive is arranged in monthly logs that can be sorted by author, date or subject. Check the July log for the most recent discussions.
- EdNA Message Archive
The voced-coord email list is also archived at EdNA. In this version, the previous year's traffic is available and it has a search feature. Try searching for information on programs becoming tax exempt.

VOCNET is an American discussion list for vocational education and training.
- Online Ed Group
The online-ed mailing list delivers a weekly paper on a topic related to online-education. It's website has the whole collection archived as well as other resources.
