Dear Gary (Stevo) and VECO
As I am still in the process of building our program wesbite (www.jitc.org.au), as such I have a few questions on website building. I am using Microsoft Frontpage '98 software, with a manual that tells me little more than the name of the software. Firstly, how do I make the data go from a web page form to my own email address, rather than a seperate web page?
Secondly, please provide me with a few different ways that I can make available my teacher, student and employer guides to website surfers (about 30 A4 pages each).
Thanks Gary, for your interesting contributions and your valuable suggestions on how to improve my website

[Gary:]
Thanks for asking Ty

First question, I assume you mean an online form.

It's easy you go to an IT specialist, like Steve Perkins (he's who i use). Unless you are very good at programming don't even attempt it.

You must have a good understanding of CGI - perl scripting. (ed)Most ISP's have a library of scripts that enable form to email and other facilities.

I have had a bit of a play with it. Boy what a play, 8 beers later I had a headache & it wasn't from the beer. Each ISP will have a different setup etc.

If you must learn this process go to

http://www.worldwidemart.com - home of Matt's script archives

the site will give you all the tips you need and more.

Second question, when puting large documents on the web make sure they are compressed with Zip or similiar. The best way to do it would be to have a downloadable file in several formats (Zipper up). The 30 pages or so of text makes no difference, it's how many clipart, photo's or tables etc are in the document. These are what make files big.

I hope this helps Ty, don't forget my last answer to the community. You should never try and remove old contact ways eg. fax or phone they can save a lot of bother (eg online forms)

Gary
