National OH&S issues in VET

Jill Gutteridge has worked in OHS since 1979 in both community and public sector organisations. She has a post graduate qualification is OHS and has been working at the National Occupational Health and Safety Commission (NOHSC) since 1990.

Jill’s work experience includes designing and conducting OHS training for people in workplaces, developing OHS information and training resources and preparation of case studies on OHS best practice.

As the manager of the Information Strategy Development Unit at NOHSC Jill is responsible for national projects on the integration of OHS into education and training and for working with ANTA to coordinate NOHSC’s OHS advice to the VET sector. This work is undertaken in association with the Education and Training Sub-committee of NOHSC’s Information Committee.

Since 1998 NOHSC’s national projects have focused on the integration of OHS into the new arrangements for vocational education and training (VET). In November last year NOHSC published a series of guidance on OHS in VET including a set of 6 guides on OHS in New Apprenticeships.

Dino Hedley has a Bachelor in Education and Diploma of Teaching from the University of South Australia and Graduate Certificate of OHS Management from the University of Adelaide.

Dino has worked as a teacher and educational manager in the SA Education Department and as a lecturer in University and TAFE systems. He has industrial experience as a share-farmer, pastoralist and automotive mechanic.

Dino joined the SA WorkCover Corporation in 1995 as an OHS consultant to promote the integration of the National Occupational Health and Safety Commission’s OHS competencies into industry competency standards.

Dino is currently on secondment to NOHSC working on national OHS in VET projects.
