Our next online guest is Janelle Schloss. Janelle is a Vocational Education Consultant currently contracted to Marsden State High School in Logan City, Brisbane, Queensland. Prior to this Janelle spent 4 years as a Training Centre Manager, where she gained significant experience working with the long term unemployed. Janelle has also worked with behaviourially disordered youth at Boys Town and has managed a Community Youth Support Scheme for two years. Janelle's Industry experience was in the Export Meat Industry where she worked for 6 years as a Stock Controller and Cost Clerk. Janelle commenced her Tertiary studies externally in 1989 completing 18 Units of the Bachelor of Psychology before changing to the Graduate Diploma of Education (Training & Development) at Southern Cross University. Janelle is currently in the final year of her Masters in Training and Development.

Since being at Marsden SHS Janelle has been involved in the ASTF funded Workplace Learning Program and in the pilot program for the Jobs Pathway Program. The programs at Marsden SHS have often been cited as examples of innovation and best practice.

Janelle's husband runs a small business and they have two children, Melissa aged 19 and Michael aged 16. In her "spare" time Janelle enjoys reading, sewing and "Veging" out.

Janelle will be our online guest for the next two weeks and will post messages regularly during that time. She tells me she intends to air some views about the role of schools in employment, responsibility for long term student outcomes and other related matters. No doubt this will provoke some debate!
