Guest - Brigid Freeman (February 11 - 20, 1998) The new ASTF kit... Guest posting to voced-coord email list. Item 4 of 15: Date: Fri, 13 Feb 1998 10:24:23 +1100 Dear all ... With the changes to the ASTF, and the discussion about the need to maintain and enhance industry involvement in school-workplace learning programs - What does this mean for you, and your co-ordination role? So you want to find out about: Transition Funding; Action Plan Development Grants; Action Plan proposals; Support for Year 9 & 10 (read on - see next posting). Services, materials/resources and financial support will be available from the ASTF to a number of Management Committees representing industry/education partnerships. [Please note that, as stated by Ian Spicer - ASTF Chair, in his open letter, "the ASTF was never intended to be, nor will it become, a mainstream funding source for vocational education in schools" See The New ASTF kit for comprehensive information. If you don't have one handy, contact Toula for a copy. Transition
Funding: If you are an exisiting affiliate, presently receiving ASTF financial support, contact your ASTF contact to discuss transition funding (from now, or the end of your current grant, to 31st August, 1998). Affiliates applying for transition funding must have completed requirements of previous grants (ie referred to as "program development requirements", and status/final and financial reports, as required). Feel free to contact Daisy at the ASTF (phone: 1800 626 839) if you would like to check whether your program has any outstanding reports, or requirements. The transition funding will be based on ASTF financial support previously provided, and apply for a period to 31st August, 1998. Action Plan
Development Grants: Affiliates are eligible, through a written submission process, to apply for financial support to develop this Action Plan proposal (the "action plan" is essentially your Business, or Strategic Plan). These submissions (up to $5,000) are referred to as Action Plan Development Grants (see The New ASTF kit). You may, or may not wish to commission a strategic planning consultant to assist you and your partners collaboratively develop an Action Plan proposal. Affiliates interested in applying for an Action Plan Development Grants: should forward information specified in the blue form from the New ASTF kit, including the following: a cover page (the blue form from The new ASTFkit) [noting the ASTF file number, and program name clearly]; a letter from your Management Committee, signed by the Chair, requesting a grant of up to $5,000 for a specified range of activities to be undertaken to develop the ACTION PLAN proposal; an itemised budget, on letterhead of the proposed grant recipient, signed by the proposed grant recipient (generally a School Principal, or a Chair of an incorporated Management Committee, or a Director of an incorporated company). Where you propose contracting a strategic planning consultant, please provide a copy of the consultant's quote to your Management Committee. URGENT - URGENT - URGENT - URGENT - URGENT When? - sooner rather than later! Remember that these Action Plan Development Grants: (where successful) are provided to assist you plan initiatives - NOW - for the 1999 school year. Programs and affiliates are encouraged to undertake the planning process with a long term view in mind. For example, you may wish to establish comprehensive plans for the 1999 school year, and also identify a series of initiatives for the longer term - for example, for the years 2000 and 2001. Need more information? Contact Melinda Coleman on 1800 626 839 or by email regarding applying for an Action Plan Development Grant. Action Plan Proposals: The action plan proposals developed by programs and other interested stakeholders (either independently of the ASTF, or with the financial assistance provided through an action plan development grant) essentially represent: your Strategic Plan or Business Plan;AND an application for (non-financial and financial) support to facilitate initiatives at the local level in conjunction with program stakeholders Cheers, Brigid Freeman To view all of the interaction with the online guest
