Dear Lenny,

Jim Cumming (Educational Solutions) is your man. He's doing two ASTF supported Year 9/10 researchy type projects (one on community based learning, which really isn't a research one, but ended up on my lap because I negotiated it with Jim) and the curriculum frameworks one (which I discussed on-line).His contact number is 02 6254 8538, and email is jcumming@dynamite.com.au (he's actually on the VECO list).
There are also some wonderfully experienced people on Jim's
Steering Committee, which he may be able to direct you to. [PS - if you do contact Jim, I'd sure he'd appreciate an overview of what you're doing re. Years 9/10 ...]

Secondly, ACER some time ago, produced an overview of initiatives supportive of students 'at risk'.
Many of these initiatives include years 9/10. The two books, by Margaret Batten, include a literature review of both Australian and overseas papers/initiatives/etc. etc. They're well worth a look.
Contact ACER on 03.9277 5500 (ask for the publications section).

Thirdly, you could contact Dr. Helen Sykes, who undertook the year 9/10 focus group consultations for the ASTF.
Helen has done a lot of work in the area, and I'm sure would
be a font of knowledge. Helen's number is 03 9699 9596.

And finally ... here's a list of people developing year 9-10 initiatives ...(with some support from the ASTF)
