Assessment for VET in Schools

Resources specifically referred to during this online guest session are listed here. They are also included in the growing collection of assessment resources in the VECO resources library.

  • Assessment materials from research project
The materials include a report, case studies, assessment instruments, policy, teacher guidelines and workplace supervisor guidelines. All documents are downloadable as PDF files from the Assessment Research Centre's website.

  • VECO Online guest - Prof Patrick Griffin
Prof Griffin's online guest session from late 1997- early 1998 (when national training packages were in their infancy) provides an excellent introduction to assessment in VET and precursor to this event.

Some may recall the lively Cappuccino debate that was sparked! There have been many follow up references to his "First, Second and Third Impression" posting that detailed what the research has shown about what  employers actually look for in a student.

  • Assessment processes at Newstead College (winners of 1999 Assessment Award)
The following excerpt from the award application describes much of the quality assurance framework that the school uses. The document includes a detailed description of the assessment processes used in the Hospitality program.
