Subject: Re: Assessment issues

I have read most of the report, but not the case studies yet, and I think that you comprehensively achieved what you set out to do. In addition, I think your definitions are very clear and user friendly.

As I read, I kept thinking 'yes' and 'I wish I'd known enough to write that!' I thought the flow chart with the 'best practice and idealised best practice' was brilliant - it is so obvious (now) about contextualising best practice but I've never seen it set out like that.

However, can I introduce an aspect which you didn't set out to cover, but which worries me.

In education, assessment is seen as a process which gives us pointers to further teaching practice. What to we do with the students who don't achieve competence, what mechanisms do we have in place to assist the student to reflect on where they need to improve maybe before the end of their placement.

cheers
