Hi all,
It's taken me a week to catch up after five wonderful days in South Australia and no, I didn't get lost in the Barossa, but it was tempting.

Thank you for the wonderful response to my guest role, the debate that has followed on sustainability and the support given for the need for a nationally accreditated generic workplacement course has been enlightening. Interesting enough, 70% of requests, discussion etc. have come direct to my email - so it seems I am not the only one who was scared to go online across Australia! If you are waiting on info, be patient, it's coming.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my guest role as I did the VETNETwork conference in Adelaide. The conference was organised to perfection, included lots of time for valuable networking and certainly got us all focused on the future big picture. I would have liked more discussion on the nitty gritty of how VET in each of the States might fit into the new National Framework. Perhaps it is still a bit premature. I was encouraged by my informal discussions with Phil Stabbeck from the Board of Studies on this and the possibility of a generic workplacement course and am sure other NSW schools and programs would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this further online. Certainly the theme of the conference key speakers reinforced the need that (to quote Bernie Fitzsimons) 'VET must go past skills and knowledge to focus on developing the essential personal and interpersonal attributes that are basic to life and work in the next century'. 'Active Citizenship' is forever imprinted in my mind.

Thanks for this opportunity Janine, it has been a valuable PD exercise for me. I am still very green when it comes to the internet but one day I might tackle a Web Page and I now know the VecoCafe is not a place to go for a good Cafe latte!

Ciao,

Anna Cutler
