If you ever want to remove yourself from this mailing list,
you can send mail to "Majordomo" with the following command
in the body of your email message:

Here's the general information for the list you've
subscribed to, in case you don't already have it:
[Last updated on: Wed Sep 24 11:10:36 1997]
Welcome to the voced-coord mailing list! This is a list
for program co-ordinators, teachers, employers, workplace
supervisors, careers advisors and others involved or interested
in structured workplace learning programs in Australian
Secondary Schools.
AUSTRALIAN VOCATIONAL EDUCATION CO-ORDINATORS ONLINE COMMUNITY
VocEd-Coord@owl.qut.edu.au
This list is an early initiative in the development of an online
community to support co-ordinators of structured workplace
learning programs and initiatives in schools (VET in schools).
The voced-coord list is the main communication vehicle and community
building device of the VECO (Voc Ed Coordinators Online) community.
ABOUT THE VECO PROJECT
The VECO project is a partnership between
Australian Student Traineeship Foundation
and Aussie Schoolhouse (http://www.ash.org.au)
The project has a website which supports the online activity of
the VECO community.
http://www.ash.org.au/veco
This project will:
* train coordinators in the use of telecommunications
* provide ways for workplace education and
Voc Ed coordinators, teachers, workplace supervisors,
employers and others to build a support network
* connect coordinators to industry groups
* host professional development activities
* provide online support and help
* host curriculum projects and
* provide information and support to teachers and
co-ordinators of vocational education programs.
WHAT IS THIS LIST ABOUT?
* Helping Internet-using VET in schools co-ordinators,
teachers and others become involved in an online community
* Providing links between co-ordinators and teachers with the
industries students are studying
* Seeking support and helping other co-ordinators and teachers
* Discussing issues of significance in Vocational Education
trends in Australian Education
* Seeking partners for projects
* Sharing news, ideas, and notices of events
The list is open and not moderated at this stage, though a list
manager checks addresses and traffic in case school students
accidentally use the list.
Currently the list manager is the VECO Project Officer,
Janine Bowes at email address:
boweja@asgard.clare.tased.edu.au
An online community of Australian Vocational Education
coordinators will reach its potential if many co-ordinators,
teachers and others contribute to the dialogue and post regularly
to the list. Please use this list to talk with co-ordinators and
others those involved in structured workplace learning vocational
education programs.
SENDING MESSAGES TO THE LIST
To mail to the list, address mail to
voced-coord@owl.qut.edu.au
Give an appropriate subject heading as this really helps busy people.
It will also be an aid to searching the list archive.
YOUR FIRST MESSAGE TO THE LIST:
Please send an email introducing yourself to this list.
Describe the kinds of access you have at your workplace and at
home. Perhaps describe how you found out about the VECO community,
how you expect this list might help you and others.
This will help us think about ways of using this list and contribute
to our collective understanding of the issues significant in
vocational education.
REPLYING TO MESSAGES SENT TO THE LIST:
The voced-coord list is set up in such a way that when you "reply"
to a posting, the reply address is the individual rather than the
list (if you check the "To:" part of your message you will see this).
Please use your own judgement and post replies to the list address when
appropriate. To do this just address your message:
To: voced-coord@owl.qut.edu.au)
ARCHIVE OF THE LIST:
This list is archived and the archive can be browsed on the web at
http://owl.qut.edu.au/common-cgi-bin/forum/VOCED-COORD/
This is useful for checking past traffic. The archive can be sorted
by date, by subject and by sender.
The list has also been archived by EdNA (Education Network Australia)
and through that archive it can be searched in a number of ways.
