VECO Online NetworksVECO is all about connecting people to each other! In the diverse and rapidly changing world of enterprise and career education, practitioners working with young people have a strong need to network with each other and online is a great way to do this! This online activity provides a powerful means of networking with others involved in the same work. VECO uses email discussion lists as a core networking and community building tool. To actively participate in these networks all you need is your own email address and access to an Internet connection and a willingness to learn. The networks available are:
From time to time members of the VECO community use other tools such as the VECO Cafe (a real time chatroom) and VECO web forums for particular purposes. Online guest events and structured activities are organised from time to time. Notification of these special events is via the voced-coord email list. General VECO community: the voced-coord email list
The voced-coord email discussion list has a thriving membership of over 700 individuals and the regular but manageable traffic is a diverse and rich source of knowledge, experience, expertise and wisdom. Program coordinators, teachers, workplace supervisors, employers, career advisers, and any other interested parties participate as actively as time, skill and equipment allows. VECO's greatest resource is its people. With over 700 members, the solution, sympathy, next brainwave, or a pat on the back is only a message away. VECO Special Focus NetworksSpecial Focus Networks as they suggest allow those with a particular interest to discuss issues in detail. Typically activity in these networks is periodic rather than constant. Of particular note are the Special Focus Networks supporting some of the ECEF Priority areas.
Regional networksA number of regional networks have been piloted since 1998. These are generally private and used for local administrative purposes as well as debate about local issues. The ongoing success of regional networks depends heavily on the commitment of the volunteer facilitators to provide support to newcomers. Information about establishing regional online networks is being developed.
Current networks are listed in the side menu. First published April 24, 1997. Last modified May 7, 2001. |
