About VECOVECO is an online community for those involved in school to post school transition. It is both a support network for practitioners and a rich information source based on the expertise of the participants. VECO began in 1997, with a new approach to providing support and networking opportunities for coordinators of structured workplace learning programs. Initiated by the Australian Student Traineeship Foundation (ASTF) - now the Enterprise & Career Education Foundation (ECEF), VECO is run in partnership with Aussie SchoolHouse. VECO fosters communication, sharing of resources, development of professional networks and recognition of achievement through the use of Internet and communications technologies including email and World Wide Web tools.
VECO has now grown to be a network of people who use a common set of tools to participate in online events and activities. The VECO website supports and records this activity, captures the collective wisdom developed by it and hosts the tools that are used. Why be involved? Those who are already involved say that VECO assists with: The project is based on four core beliefs and enables coordinators to feel part of a larger community and provides avenues to allow them to communicate with other people in similar roles, share ideas and information, collaborate and learn together. By supporting their development through promoting practical "best practice" use of technology, direct benefit will flow on to students through the implementation of ideas and increased opportunities in the programs in which they participate. The VECO project services an area that previously did not have specific online support. It does not duplicate existing online resources or services. The project is supported by a Project Coordinator whose role is to coordinate and develop the VECO project. First published April 24,1997. Last modified October 30, 2000. |
